  14. Want something colorful for your desktop pattern, but tire easily of patterns that look like something out of a bad video clip? The original Parchment Desktop Pattern comes with a dozen color variations to suit your mood. Better still, they’re all completely free!

  17. Using the Patterns with System 7.5.x
  18.  
  19. To install the Parchment Patterns with System 7.5.x, follow these steps:

  21. 1.  Open the Parchment Desktop Patterns folder.
  22.  
  23. 2.  Open the Finder 7.5 Clipping Format folder.
  24.  
  25. 3.  Open the Apple menu; then choose the Control Panels item.
  26.      The Control Panels window opens.
  27.  
  28. 4.  Open the Desktop Patterns control panel.
  29.      Move the windows so that you can see the Desktop Patterns 
  30.      window and the Finder 7.5 Clipping Format window at the 
  31.      same time.

  33. 5.  Drag each Parchment icon to the Desktop Patterns window.
  34.      Each pattern appears at the end of the list.

  36. Now scroll through the new patterns in the Desktop Patterns control panel’s list of patterns until you find one you like; then click the Set Desktop Pattern button.

  39. System 7.5.x Tip:
  40.  
  41. The Desktop Patterns control panel can also be used to set the Utilities Pattern. (The pattern used as a background in desk accessories such as the Calculator and the Find File utility.) Simply hold down the Option key in the Desktop Patterns control panel, and the Set Desktop Pattern button becomes Set Utilities Pattern. We’ve found that the White parchment pattern works best as a Utilities pattern.’

  44. Using the Patterns with Systems Before 7.5.x

  46. To install the Parchment Patterns with System 6.x or 7.x, follow these steps:
  47.  
  48. 1.  Locate a copy of the Texture Installer program.
  49.      If you can’t find the program where you acquired these patterns, 
  50.      ask your System Operator.
  51.  
  52. 2.  Open the Parchment Desktop Patterns folder.
  53.  
  54. 3.  Open the Texture Installer Format document.
  55.      The Texture Installer program opens, and a list of 
  56.      textures appears.
  57.  
  58. 4.  Scroll through the list with the Left and Right arrow buttons.
  59.      You can also use the Left and Right arrow keys on your keyboard.

  61. 5.  Click the Install button.
  62.      You can also press the Return key on your keyboard.
  63.  
  64. 6.  Open the File menu, then choose the Quit command.
